LITTLE NADINE'S DOLL HOUSE @ Oakwood Cemetery |
|
Location: 1462 1st Street map & directions |
What to expect: Little Nadine Earles was only four years old in 1933 when she wished for a doll house for Xmas which her father was feverishly working on before the big day. Unfortunately, little Nadine died on December 18th, only one week before Xmas day. Her parent still granted their daughter's wish in her afterlife and converted the doll house into her tomb. Inside there are many dolls and toys which her parents filled over the years. Most intriguing, however, is that what seems like a small bed inside is Nadine's actual gravestone. Her parents are also buried on the plot next to the doll house. The only thing that could make this story more Goth is if the doll house was a mini Goth castle! |

MUSEUM OF WONDER DRIVE-THRU MUSEUM |
|
Location: 970 Alabama Highway 169 map & directions |
What to expect: "The Museum of Wonder is a modern-day cabinet of curiosities filled with art, artifacts, and found or gifted objects including the world’s largest gallstone and an actual footprint from Sasquatch! At the age of fourteen, Butch built a one-room log cabin that became a workshop for his many creations and eventually the first incarnation of the Museum of Wonder. As his skills developed, Butch began to build and fashion furniture, sculptures, and many other works of art and constructions. The Museum soon became too small and too popular for the log cabin to contain. In 2014, Butch built The World’s First Drive-Thru Museum out of shipping containers. It sits off U.S. HWY 431 in Seale, Alabama and exhibits a rotating display of Butch’s handcrafted designs and curiosities for the wonderment of visitors and passerbys alike." |

CAPITOL PARK |
|
Location: 2828 6th Street map & directions |
What to expect: Between the years of 1826 to 1846, Tuscaloosa was indeed the Alabama State capital and the Capitol building was completed in 1829. After serving as the State capital for only a couple of decades, the government decided that the capital should be elsewhere and eventually befell on Montgomery. The Capitol building was then transformed into the Alabama Central Female College until 1923 when the building caught fire while a construction worker was doing routine repairs. Today, the ruins of this structure still remain in what is now a public park. Get your Goth pose photos here!!! |
